His innovative teaching methods have inspired countless students, fostering a deep appreciation for the natural world. Congratulations to our Apache Jazz and Apache Symphonic Bands for their holiday concert last Thursday! They performed to a full house, delighting everyone with the festive sounds of the season. The musicians displayed their talent and commitment through a varied selection of music, spanning from timeless holiday classics to modern arrangements. The audience was enchanted by the harmonious mix of sounds, with each piece earning enthusiastic applause. This concert was not just a celebration of music; it also highlighted the dedication and passion of the students and their directors.

We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to our Maroon Masque drama program for their outstanding production of “The Music of Lin Manuel Miranda.” The performance captivated the audience and was truly delightful. The students did an incredible job, especially since this was their first musical in quite a while. A special shout-out goes to our directors, Veronica Weatherbie and Ashley Amezcua, for their exceptional leadership of the program. Let’s give a round of applause to all our talented actors and actresses!

This weekend, we celebrated two students who were honored at the local VFW Post #2066 for their written interpretations in the Voice of Democracy contest. Dorian Moore secured first place and shared his essay with the audience. Although Ella Ibarra, who placed second, could not attend, we are proud of their achievements and commend them for their outstanding recognition!

Join us for an unforgettable experience with the music of Lin Manuel Miranda during Maroon Masque’s production happening TONIGHT and TOMORROW. This performance showcases beloved songs from “In the Heights,” “Hamilton,” “Vivo,” and “Encanto.” Celebrate Miranda’s incredible talent through the captivating interpretation by Maroon Masque.

Come and celebrate the holiday season with us tonight at the NHS Band and Jazz Holiday Concert, where we'll fill the air with festive music!

Your presence matters, and we are eager to see everyone in attendance. We understand that the colder weather and later sunrises can be challenging, but your education is crucial. The most effective way to learn is by being present in the classroom, as valuable instruction is lost with each absence. Next week is finals week, and while there will be early release, we encourage everyone to come every day. Participate in our SPIRIT WEEK to make this final school week of 2024 the most well-attended. Students who achieve 95% attendance by the end of the month will be entered into a drawing, and we will also recognize first periods with 100% attendance, which means no tardies and no absences. Go Apaches!

We are thrilled and eager to welcome everyone back tomorrow! We've really missed all of you. With just two weeks remaining, every day matters- let's challenge everyone to aim for perfect attendance during these final weeks of the semester!

The SAT test set for Saturday, December 7, 2024, will proceed as planned. If you are registered, please make sure to prepare yourself and give it your best effort!

Dear NHS Parents and Guardians:
I want to update you that a damaged underground gas pipe was located today by the contractor hired to identify and resolve the issue discovered yesterday after an unusual odor was reported in the courtyard. However, out of an abundance of caution, we want to provide additional time to have the contractor complete the repair, check the entire length of the pipe, and test the seal on the pipe before filling in the area disturbed and resuming classes.
To allow workers the additional time to properly complete the repair, we will cancel classes again on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Nogales High School. Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at (520) 377-2021.
Thank you--
Renee Travers, NHS Principal

Good evening, NHS Parents and Guardians--
I wanted to inform you that an unusual odor was noticed in the Nogales High School courtyard earlier today. The Nogales Fire Department and Unisource responded quickly to investigate the report. Out of an abundance of caution, one of the gas lines has been shut off and will remain closed until the issue is identified and fully resolved.
While the gas is closed, there will not be heat in many buildings on campus. Because we cannot safely provide work crew access to the courtyard with students on campus, classes will be canceled at Nogales High School tomorrow, Thursday, December 5, 2024.
If you have any questions, please call the school at (520) 377-2021.
Thank you for being so understanding and your continued support--
NHS Principal Renee Travers
