Good afternoon, NHS Parents and Guardians, Thank you for your understanding and cooperation this afternoon as the district, site administration, and the Nogales Police Department collaborated to investigate the threat received earlier today. This email serves to inform you that the threat has been deemed not credible, and a suspect is currently in custody. We will proceed with regular dismissal at 2 pm. Cars will be permitted on campus at 2:30 pm for student pick-up, following the established normal dismissal protocol once buses have departed. Sincerely, Renee Travers Principal

Good Afternoon NHS Parents and Guardians-- We received an electronic threat and, out of an abundance of caution, placed the school on lockdown. Nogales Police Department officers are on scene investigating the threat. All students are safe, but while officers investigate, the campus will be closed and visitors will not be permitted on campus. We will provide another update to you as more information becomes available, and we appreciate your cooperation and support. Thank you, Renee Travers, NHS Principal

This year, Pamela Carbajal, a junior, has been recognized as one of Junior Achievement’s 18 Under 18 in Arizona. I am honored to nominate her for the AZ19 Most Influential Youth Awards due to her outstanding leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to improving her community. As a Cadet Lieutenant Colonel in AFJROTC, Pamela leads a group of 131 cadets with compassion and has successfully organized the AFJROTC Military Ball while enhancing academic programs. Additionally, she serves as the Vice President of MESA, guiding her team to a commendable 2nd place at a national competition. She also mentors young individuals in her church, ensuring they engage in meaningful service activities. As the Secretary for Mariachi Apache, Pamela coordinates performances for charitable causes. Furthermore, she captains both the freshman and junior varsity volleyball teams, promoting teamwork and collaboration. Pamela led her team in presenting at the SABR Baseball Conference, showcasing her enthusiasm for sports analytics. She restructured the AFJROTC Honors Society to increase participation and engagement among members. Actively involved in service projects, she has organized food and toy drives, coordinated a Thanksgiving Food Drive, and volunteered for Down Syndrome awareness initiatives.
